The cabin on the island isnt bad, but lack of close coal is a big issue. The airfield is a nice base but it's so central to everything and surrounded by vastness there's not much to explore to pass the time. A dead body lay outside the helicopter's side door, which has been jammed wide open. Despite that, the location may be a precious small shelter against the weather and give a small warmth +5° C bonus.
